JOB FUNCTIONS

Backbase is a software company based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and is the unrivaled market leader when it comes to providing Digital Experiences (a.k.a. cutting edge web and mobile applications) for Banks and other financial institutions. After achieving success in European and Asian markets, Backbase is now aggressively expanding into the Americas. As part of that expansion we are building out a top-tier team of Solutions Consultants to help drive new business through their mastery of our products and technologies.
    • You have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience;
    • You have a minimum of 2 years in a majority customer-facing role;
    • Have a proven track record in executing well over a 100 sales pitches/demos;
    • You enjoy working without a “playbook” and you can easily navigate global organizations to find what you need;
    • You excel at making complex concepts simple;
    • You thrive in establishing relationships with technical stakeholders;
    • You are comfortable working in a named account universe where relationships matter;
    • You are not afraid to challenge your team members and behave slightly rebellious towards prospects. We don’t just deliver products; our solutions often change a financial institution (by moving to cloud, to Agile, etc);
    • You enjoy and are flexible to switch between tasks throughout the day. Participating in an ad-hoc call or inbound info request are some examples;
    • You have experience working in or around the Financial Services industry;
    • You have excellent sales acumen, including:
    ◦ Confident and energetic presentation style
    ◦ Mastery of PowerPoint - inclusive of a drive to improve your decks
    ◦ The ability to “own the room” and keep the conversation on track
    ◦ Solid sales and meeting mechanics
    ◦ Experience in ABS and/or TAS is welcome
    • You have an entrepreneurial spirit that enables you to face new challenges with confidence, take ownership of responsibilities, and innovate as a regular part of your day;
    • Digital is part of your DNA and you don’t mind “evangelizing” Digital to Bankers that initially may not see or understand the value digital brings;
    • You are open to traveling up to 75% (on a yearly average, up to 12 business days per month)both domestically and internationally, and embrace exploring new places and cultures;
    • You have a relentless thirst for knowledge and self-improvement and spend down hours honing your craft and expanding your product knowledge;
    • You enjoy bringing different departments together, working with Business Consultancy, Professional Services and Solutions to create the best possible buying experience (inc ownership of project handover to partners and/or professional services teams;

THE JOB AT BACKBASE

Sales Consulting requires a unique combination of product knowledge, communication and sales skills. As a functional element within the Sales team, you, as a Sales Consultant, will work as part of a tight–knit team to support sales efforts with your Backbase product expertise (which of course you will gain through our rigorous training program). You will be the primary conduit through which relationships with technical leadership within your target accounts are established. You will prepare and deliver product presentations, give demos of Backbase software, draft delightful and thorough responses to RFP’s (Requests For Proposal), and engage with prospective customers to educate and enlighten them about the value of becoming a Backbase customer. All of this will be done under the umbrella of a TAS (Targeted Account Selling) methodology that encourages you to forge and nurture strong relationships within our target accounts. apply now

SALES 

For the size of the organization (850+ people), we have a rather small Global Sales team, counting around 60 Sales Representatives in 11 offices across the world. Our SVP of Sales (located in Amsterdam HQ) is leading the team and strategy. Together with Regional Sales Directors and their teams of Account Executives and Business Development Representatives, they are responsible for achieving the yearly revenue and customer acquisition goals. 

The majority of the Sales team is based in our Amsterdam HQ but we also have small local sales teams based in the US ( Atlanta & Princeton), Frankfurt, Mexico, Dubai, Singapore, Japan, India and Australia which helps us to be closer and stay relevant to the clients in the area.
