JOB FUNCTIONS

Due to the extraordinary growth of the company, Backbase is seeking an exceptional sales leader to join the team as Regional Vice President of Sales - West USA. In addition to passion, skills, and experience, you will need to have a consistent track record of exceeding revenue targets and in building and leading high performing sales organizations. You will be responsible for developing strategic sales plans based on company goals promoting sales growth and customer satisfaction.
  • 10+ years’ experience in sales and experience building and running front-line sales teams delivering recurring revenue for enterprise software companies.
  • Experience growing and building high-performing sales organizations.
  • Relevant software industry experience in banking, financial services, or enterprise software; significant experience leading and selling large, highly consultative deals.
  • History of consistently meeting/exceeding sales quotas personally and as a sales leader .
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills; ability to build strong business partnerships both outside, and within the organization.
  • Skilled at business planning and diligent at measuring and communicating progress towards the plan, identifying roadblocks, and coming up with appropriate solutions.
  • Highly professional persona and polished demeanor.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective at delivering executive-level presentations.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; MBA a plus.

THE JOB AT BACKBASE

  • Directly lead the sales professionals in the United States and partner with sales engineering and other functional teams.
  • Cultivate a team-oriented, problem-solving culture focused on delivering value-driven solutions that facilitate business success for potential customers.
  • Work with the Recruitment Team to recruit and hire for open sales positions, in addition to onboarding and training new salespeople.
  • Monitor the activities and performance of the sales team, setting expectations and providing coaching and direction.
  • Consistently deliver Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) targets – ensuring company sales goals and objectives are achieved quarter over quarter, and year over year.
  • Effectively manage territory: establish accurate plans and forecasts; prioritize efforts; generate short-term results while building a long-term strategy to achieve overall results.
  • Put into place sales force structure, sales process strategies, and strategic resource plans that will capture key revenue opportunities throughout the region.
  • Identify key customer insights, help define the value proposition, and help determine appropriate marketing strategy to maximize growth objectives.
  • Maintain market and competitor intelligence and develop strategies to maintain competitiveness.
  • Work as a team for the most efficient use of people; collaborate with sales engineering, channels/alliances, product, legal, marketing, and engineering teams to create a seamless customer experience.

    SALES 

    For the size of the organization (850+ people), we have a rather small Global Sales team, counting around 60 Sales Representatives in 11 offices across the world. Our SVP of Sales (located in Amsterdam HQ) is leading the team and strategy. Together with Regional Sales Directors and their teams of Account Executives and Business Development Representatives, they are responsible for achieving the yearly revenue and customer acquisition goals. 

    The majority of the Sales team is based in our Amsterdam HQ but we also have small local sales teams based in the US ( Atlanta & Princeton), Frankfurt, Mexico, Dubai, Singapore, Japan, India and Australia which helps us to be closer and stay relevant to the clients in the area.
