JOB FUNCTIONS

As a Regional Sales Director you are responsible for defining the sales strategy in the assigned region, and driving strategic sales initiatives into the Financial Services Industry. You are responsible for recruiting, managing and the optimization of the sales, business development and field marketing teams.
  • You will be responsible for the go to market strategy in the assigned region, the performance and results of the assigned region and provide leadership to managers and employees within your function;
  • You are able to diagnose customer’s business issues, latent needs or technology pain points and translate these into a compelling solution and vision;
  • You identify, connect and actively engage with key targets, influencers and decision makers inside an organization;
  • You develop and maintain senior-level relationships with E-Business and IT executives within target accounts;
  • You collaborate with a team of world-class solution engineers feeding them with spot-on intelligence;
  • You actively funnel opportunities, monitor the pipeline and create and maintain a weekly product and services forecast;
  • You negotiate pricing & close contracts (with support of senior management);
  • You develop comprehensive sales and account plans to achieve sales quota; focus is on the development of opportunities at new target accounts and development of new markets with our partners;
  • You follow Solution Selling and/or SPIN best practices during the sales cycle, leveraging the MEDDICC sales methodology;
  • You drive the development and continuous upgrade of our sales tools and pre sales instruments;
  • You have strong technical aptitude (WCM/Digital Marketing/Web Services, IT Landscape, red);
  • You have business, product and industry knowledge;
  • You have a deep understanding of business, financials and Backbase products and services;
  • You have a deep understanding of FinTech market and clients' needs;
  • You have a deep understanding of business, financials, products/services, the market and the needs of assigned accounts.

THE JOB AT BACKBASE

This includes pipeline generation, forecast management, Salesforce (CRM) hygiene as well as recruiting and onboarding team members and managing the current team. You act as a player/coach and also carry quota for the largest accounts. Your team consists of Senior Account Executives that will have responsibility for several target accounts; more junior Account Executives who will require development and mentoring together with dedicated Business Development Managers who will support you and your Account Executives in lead generation and the identification of sales opportunities. Dedicated local field marketing, regional partner sales management, local pre-sales engineers plus local delivery will be in place to ensure you and your team’s success. Your accounts will be a blend of prospects and existing clients with additional revenue opportunities. You negotiate pricing & close contracts (with support of senior management). You turn (potential) customer business issues, latent needs or technology pain points into compelling solutions and vision. You collaborate with a tight knit team of world-class pre-sales engineers feeding them with spot-on intelligence to articulate a clear, concise return on investment value statements. SALES 

For the size of the organization (850+ people), we have a rather small Global Sales team, counting around 60 Sales Representatives in 11 offices across the world. Our SVP of Sales (located in Amsterdam HQ) is leading the team and strategy. Together with Regional Sales Directors and their teams of Account Executives and Business Development Representatives, they are responsible for achieving the yearly revenue and customer acquisition goals. 

The majority of the Sales team is based in our Amsterdam HQ but we also have small local sales teams based in the US ( Atlanta & Princeton), Frankfurt, Mexico, Dubai, Singapore, Japan, India and Australia which helps us to be closer and stay relevant to the clients in the area.
