JOB FUNCTIONS

Backbase is looking for an exceptional Business Development Manager who will be responsible for leading and managing our Business Development Representatives within EMEA. Your goal is to help Backbase grow revenue in the region by finding new opportunities, researching leads, establishing relationships with potential clients. Together with your team Business Development Representatives you’ll build a solid pipeline with qualified leads for our Account Executives. You are a natural leader that knows how to get things done in a fast-paced International organization. You have a can-do mentality, are creative and excel at creating new business opportunities. You know how to motivate and coach your team to set them up for success. You will be based in our Amsterdam office and report to the SVP of Sales (based in Amsterdam).
  • 5+ years experience in managing and coaching inside sales teams
  • Expert in using Salesforce including analytics and reporting
  • Proven track record in enterprise software license sales
  • A creative thinker who’s not afraid to share ideas and give (and receive) both positive and negative feedback.
  • Digital-minded and tech-savvy.
  • Understanding of the value of digital and omni-channel.
  • Exceptional organizational, presentation and communication skills, verbal and written in English.
  • Ability to set clear targets and development plans. Set objectives to achieve those targets.

THE JOB AT BACKBASE

You are responsible for:
  • Coach and develop business development representatives to meet and exceed individual goals
  • Ensure that marketing qualified leads (MQLs) are converting to Sales opportunities (SQLs) and supporting sales pipeline growth
  • Ensure that the pipeline will be built by outbound prospecting activities within the predefined target accounts
  • Cultivate future projects and identify new opportunities in the existing client base
  • Create motivating plans that drive strong productivity from our BDM team
  • Work with the Sales executive team to facilitate long term planning for kick-off, regional BDM meetings, end of quarter war room, QBR's and point on vision and agenda.
  • Compliance Audits - Ensuring that the BDM team provides all necessary information in our systems of record. (Circles of Influence, Decision Making Units, MEDDIC profiles, etc.)
  • Establish a close cooperation with our marketing, pre-sales, customer success teams as well as our partner base in the region
  • Facilitate partner and Backbase sales team alignment, target account nomination and opportunity planning to drive joint license (Backbase) and service (partner) wins. Achieve license and service targets as agreed.

    SALES 

    For the size of the organization (850+ people), we have a rather small Global Sales team, counting around 60 Sales Representatives in 11 offices across the world. Our SVP of Sales (located in Amsterdam HQ) is leading the team and strategy. Together with Regional Sales Directors and their teams of Account Executives and Business Development Representatives, they are responsible for achieving the yearly revenue and customer acquisition goals. 

    The majority of the Sales team is based in our Amsterdam HQ but we also have small local sales teams based in the US ( Atlanta & Princeton), Frankfurt, Mexico, Dubai, Singapore, Japan, India and Australia which helps us to be closer and stay relevant to the clients in the area.
